History: Orpington, England gained fame from these chickens because they are named after this city. William Cook created this breed in the late 1880's.
Additional Notes: They cannot fly due to their weight, but this trait makes them very suitable as backyard chickens. Highly recommended to keep them out of the rain because their fluffy feathers cannot keep the water out.
